Designed to accommodate an extensive brief within the platform occupied by an original cottage, this contemporary residence uses four levels to integrate new spaces sensitively into the steeply sloping site.
Flexibility to accommodate various groups within one family at any one time was required, resulting in a series of individually crafted spaces circling a grass courtyard. Concrete, steel and glass is softened with a rich palette of natural materials, including sandstone cladding and timber. Each space is individually crafted to take advantage of both extensive and intimate views that this beautiful site offered yet provide the occupants privacy when required.
