This development comprises 7 contemporary 2 bedroom and loft terrace style residences with basement parking.
Each terrace has large landscaped front and rear courtyards, capitalising on the northern orientation.
The character of the building responds to the streetscape, while stepping up the hill on a steeply sloping site. Individual entries develop a sense of ownership and privacy within the complex.
The major challenge was the client’s brief for 7 townhouses on a small site of approximately 750m2 in area. A townhouse typology on a 4.5 metre grid was developed using a stepped form following the site’s topography.
Additional floor area was incorporated into the roofspace to create a 3rd bedroom or study space. Close negotiations with council and neighbouring properties ensured the design achieved all of council’s objectives whilst maintaining the clients return on investment.
Sharon and Kwan purchased their 1930s Pymble home with the aim to renovate. The home had good bones but features such as an external laundry and narrow garage meant that the home needed an upgrade for modern family living.
