Composed of three floating pavilions stepping down the sloping site, this steel framed house is sensitively placed to take maximum advantage of views, light and passive environmental control. The floating design of the pavilions preserve existing rock platforms on the site and create an intimate relationship between the site and the house. The three timber clad pavilions are connected by glazed stairwells offering varied spatial experiences and interesting views and vistas in the journey through the house. Views to Long Reef headland and toward Manly are captured from many of the interior spaces. A rich layering of sunshading, screens, louvres, timber decking and cladding adds depth and diversity to the presentation of the house.
