The brief called for a new 3 bedroom residence that allowed the owners to downsize from their existing large property to a more manageable low maintenance dwelling, but allow them to remain in the location that they loved and enhance their active lifestyle.
A formal but contemporary architectural language was adopted for the house, which suited its traditional low scale suburban context as well as the compact nature of its site.
A single level design was established with a focus on providing ease of access around the property and minimum steps. This will enable the owners to live in the home for as many years as possible. The house engages with its garden setting, with over-sized stacking doors that connect the living zones to the newly landscaped rear courtyard and terrace.
“Our experience with Luke Playoust and Michael Harris of PCA was positive from the development stage to the completion of our new home. They introduced new ideas and concepts to produce a very high standard, architecturally designed house. We are very happy in our new home which is functional, has great street appeal (already received numerous compliments from neighbours) and was within budget.”
