This English country style home sits on a magnificent double block of land in East Killara. The brief called for a sensitive renovation of the existing home, respecting its scale and detail.
The ground floor works focused on creating a more open plan kitchen, meals and family room. We included a visual and physical connection to the rear yard as well as the front yard, which enjoys views outwards over the pool and dining terrace, and over the valley. A new stair and ancillary spaces such as laundry and boot room were also incorporated on this level.
On the first floor we added three children’s bedrooms at the rear of the property. The master bedroom also underwent a re-plan to increase the size of the room, including a new walk-in robe and en suite.
All the additions sit comfortably within the context and style of the existing home. We incorporated steep roof pitches and dormer windows throughout.
Working closely with the building team at Construction Matters, we delivered a renovation which is sympathetic to the original heritage, while making the home more suitable for modern living.
Sharon and Kwan purchased their 1930s Pymble home with the aim to renovate. The home had good bones but features such as an external laundry and narrow garage meant that the home needed an upgrade for modern family living.
