This major alterations project entailed the complete rebuild of the rear of the house over 2 levels as well as the addition of the first floor. During the design process, the adjacent site was acquired and a new pool, tennis court and cabana and additional garage were incorporated into the design.

To break the scale of the building down,  the design employed  3 pavilion-like structures with bridge links connecting the various spaces together. With the kitchen, meals, living room having a southerly orientation, a new roof light was designed to drop light into these spaces.

The roof light was carefully positioned whereby winter sun would not be blocked by the proposed first-floor addition. This light well drops light deep into the floor plan whilst also serving as a transition between the formal and more informal areas of the home
