The existing bungalow was completely transformed into a classic contemporary residence. The external front façade was refurbished, whilst the rear was completely demolished to make way for a modern contemporary living space, flowing seamlessly to outdoor entertaining areas.

The rear addition contains a new kitchen, meals, family room, kid’s games room and laundry, and bathroom facilities. Due to the site's topography, Playoust Churcher Architects were able to split level the new rear addition. By lowering the family room 3 steps from the kitchen, meals space, the family room becomes not only more spacious and light filled, but connected seamlessly to the outdoor entertaining deck and pool. The family room space was given further drama and light by introducing highlighted glazing and large sliding doors.

Additional light was also introduced to the kitchen and meals area via a 5 metre linear skylight along the southern side. The result was a dramatic splash of light deep within the room.
